JOIN A COMMITTEE AT THE GREATER ROCHESTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The strength of your business can be increased through volunteerism on Chamber committees.

Please review the list of Chamber committees below. Please the check the one that you or someone at your business are interested in joining and return this form to the address below.

Ambassador’s Committee (Membership Retention)

Mission    Build professional relationships through personal contact with Chamber members assist to retain the membership base and generate member involvement.
Meeting Dates As determined by committee – every two months
Responsibilities 
  1. Make personal calls to existing members on a quarterly basis.
  2. Encourage members to attend upcoming events and become involved.
  3. Greet and interact with members at Business Open House and New Member Receptions.
  4. Coordinate annual membership appreciation day “Operation Thank You”.
  5. Serve as liaison between leadership and membership

Governmental Affairs Council

Mission    Represent, monitor and advocate members interests and concerns to local, regional, state and federal governmental organizations on issues that affect the economic well-being and quality of life in the greater Rochester area.
Meeting Dates The third Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m.
Responsibilities 
  1. Monitor and communicate information on issues affecting the economic well-being of businesses.
  2. Recommend Chamber positions to the Board of Directors in regards to selected issues advocating member’s interests.
  3. Recommend activities where proposed actions can be discussed and members become informed on issues.
  4. Assist in informing members of issues that arise that may affect business.
  5. Conduct a survey of members periodically to determine the areas of interest and concern.
  6. Work with other local Chambers in the region to affect the outcome of regional and statewide issues.

Public Relations Committee          

Mission    To develop and maintain a positive image of the Chamber, recommend public relations efforts and communicate information about the Chamber to the membership, non-members and the public.
Meeting Dates As determined by the committee.
Responsibilities 
  1. Commitment to promoting Chamber activities.
  2. Establish methods of promoting the Chamber and its members.
  3. Establish promotional material to inform members and non-members of the value of membership.
  4. Develop Welcome to Rochester program for new businesses.
  5. Establish methods of promoting Rochester, i.e. video and articles.

SPECIAL EVENT COMMITTEES

Annual Dinner Dance & Awards Banquet Committee      

Mission    To develop festive dinner dance and awards banquet where the organization presents Citizen of the Year and Business Leader of the Year recipients and where Chamber members can unite socially.
Meeting Dates November - April
Responsibilities 
  1. Establish date, time, place, theme and decor of event.
  2. Develop and mail invitations to members.
  3. Promote member businesses sponsoring the event.

Small Business Showcase Committee

Mission    Establish event to showcase member small businesses, that do not have adequate space or location to host a business after hours event, and promote event to existing members and the public to attend.
Meeting Dates January-May
Responsibilities 
  1. Establish, date, time, place of event.
  2. Generate sponsors for event.
  3. Sell opportunity to member small business to showcase their products and services in an expo format.
  4. Recruit volunteers to staff game tables.

Golf Tournament Committee

Mission    Create golf tournament fund raiser for Chamber members and their guests to unite socially while promoting member businesses.
Meeting Dates February-June
Responsibilities 
  1. Establish date, time and price of event.
  2. Recruit and promote sponsors for event.
  3. Select caterer and menu for dinner/awards ceremony.
  4. Develop program for prizes for individuals and teams.

Chamber Raffle Committee

Mission    Sell tickets for cash prize or merchandise certificates to be spent at participating member business.
Meeting Dates February-August
Responsibilities 
  1. Negotiate prizes with participating member.
  2. Develop methods of selling 600 tickets at $50 each.
  3. Designate locations to promote raffle and sell tickets.

Holiday Parade Committee

Mission    Coordinate spectacular holiday parade for the community that promotes the Chamber and its members.
Meeting Dates September-December
Responsibilities 
  1. Obtain and promote sponsors for event.
  2. Develop publicity to solicit entries for the event.
  3. Recruit high school bands to participate and provide musical entries.
  4. Establish regulations to insure safety of participants and public.
  5. Assemble entries to insure an attractive and organized parade.
  6. Develop methods of publicizing the event to increase the Chamber’s visibility in the community.
