HEALTH CARE REFORM BREAKFAST FORUM
The Greater Rochester and Somersworth Chambers of Commerce recently presented a breakfast forum entitled "Health Care Reform: How Small Businesses Will Be Affected in 2014," sponsored by Holy Rosary Credit Union.
Speakers Jim Scammon, of Granite Group Benefits, and Al Felgar, of Frisbie Memorial Hospital, provided attendees with an update on the Affordable Care Act with a special focus on small businesses. The forum also covered what changes are still on the horizon for 2014; what the Exchange means for businesses and individuals and what changes in underwriting standards will mean for insurance rates.

ROCHESTER HOLIDAY EVENTS
The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Holiday Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade will be held this weekend!
The Holiday Tree Lighting, underwritten by Frisbie Memorial Hospital will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 5:30-6:30pm at Central Square in downtown Rochester. This event will feature Mayor Thomas "T.J." Jean lighting Rochester's holiday tree for the first time of the 2013 holiday season. Those who attend will enjoy a visit with Santa at Federal Savings Bank, cookie decorating at the Chamber office, dance performances by Studio 109 Dance, Voice & Drama, and caroling by the Frisbie Memorial Hospital carolers. Those who attend will also enjoy cookies and hot chocolate provided by Citizens Bank!
Many downtown merchants and eateries will also participate in the event by offering discounts and specials to help kick off the 2013 holiday season!

This year's holiday parade, underwritten by Profile Bank will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 3:00pm. "A Patriotic Christmas: Supporting Our Troops" will be the theme of this year's parade. Entries are now being accepted for floats, marching, mobile and equestrian units in the parade. Those entering floats are encouraged to decorate their entry keeping with the theme and may enter in the Youth, Organizational or Commercial Division of the parade.
The parade will begin on Wakefield Street by the triangle at the entrance to the Richard Creteau Technology Center and travel south on Wakefield Street, turning onto Union and then South on North Main Street before disbanding at the Rochester Commons.
All are invited to join in the holiday spirit generated by these festive community events ~ we hope to see you there!
"GETTING YOUR BUSINESS IN THE NEWS" SEMINAR
The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce will present a seminar entitled "Getting Your Business In the News." Sponsored by the Rochester Economic Development Department, the seminar will be held on January 21, 2014 from 7:30-10:30am at the Rochester Country Club, located at 94 Church Street in Rochester.
This seminar will include a panel of local media representatives covering radio, television, newspaper, magazine and social media. Panelists will discuss getting to know reporters, how to get your business covered, the types of stories that are typically covered, how to follow up after submitting news, marketing your business through social media, writing a dynamic press release and much, much more. This is a MUST attend seminar to put you one step ahead of your competition!

OFFICE SPACE AVAILABLE IN CHAMBER BUILDING
Newly renovated, prime downtown office space is currently available on the second and third floor of the Chamber of Commerce building. Space can be set up based on needs.
2nd Floor Space Details One or two office suite is being offered totaling 402 square feet. One office offers 136 square feet measuring 10x11 1/2 with a 3x7 storage closet. The second office offers 266 square feet measuring 14x19. These offices can be rented together or separately. Both spaces feature fresh paint, new carpeting and new window treatments. Come meet fellow business people at the Chamber Links Lunch N' Learn networking group. Chamber Links networking meetings are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday from 11:30am to 1:00pm. The venue for Chamber Links changes quarterly with meetings.
The goal of Chamber Links is to introduce and make business connections in a casual and facilitated setting. The Chamber Links Lunch N' Learn meetings feature a keynote speaker who provides information on timely topics that affect business. In addition, this networking opportunity provides members with the opportunity to give a 60-second "snippet" about their business.
Chamber Links meetings have ended for the holiday season and will resume in January, 2014.
