Frisbie Memorial Hospital teams up with area schools through the Healthy Moves program, a school-based nutrition and physical activity program designed to help children improve their food choices and increase their interest in getting more exercise. The hospital’s dietitians and physical therapist assistant go into the classrooms, one hour each week for eight weeks, for interactive nutrition lessons and “hands-on” cooking demonstrations of simple, healthy recipes that can be made in the classroom. The physical therapist assistant introduces physical activities like games, dance and exercise that students can do at home. Activity goals are set and monitored over time.
